I’m on my last lap now they’re catching up to me.
About four hundred strong that’s all my eyes can see.
If they past me by I’ll have to face my sins
So I’ll need to stay one step ahead of them.
I am on my knees and they have now caught up.
They have surrounded me and I am feeling stuck.
With echoed tones they’re calling out my name
And clothing me in a wardrobe of shame.
“You worthless thing you won’t amount to crap
You have lived for me you’ve fallen in my trap.
You know that I'm right so come down to my hood
He will not take you now ‘cause you're damaged goods.”
It’s been a trying race my legs are weary now
My mind’s gone numb and I am throwing in my towel.
It’s been far too long since I cried out to Thee
If it is not to late can You now carry me!
Within my heart I felt an awesome cry,
“Don’t you yield to Him, He is the prince of lies.”
I’ve carried you since birth, I’m with you everyday
I’ve been there when you called and when you stayed away.
You were conceived by them but first conceived by Me
I know every breath you breathe and hair on your body.
So rise up my child and take another look
Every single day of your life was written in My book.
Sometimes you’ll have to fall but I’ll help you up again
So don’t you fear my dear because I KNEW YOU WHEN.
